SUMMARY Works proactively with Product Development (PD) Project Engineering Managers throughout the accessory development process to ensure compatibility with a high-volume-installation port environment. Makes recommendations as appropriate regarding installation jigs and templates, adhesives, tools, and equipment. Develops installation techniques, port work instructions, and training aids as appropriate. Coordinates and conducts accessory installation training events to ensure proper accessory installations at all port facilities as per the design intent. Protects these significant profit centers from liabilities including recalls, warranty costs, and customer dissatisfaction that could result from improper installations. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES + Remains completely familiar with all installation details of all port-installed accessories, involving locally built, imported, and Alliance vehicle models. + Generates training material and develops a training curriculum for port-installed accessories. Develops plans and keeps records of training participants and events. + Travels to all processing locations and stages classroom and hands-on installation presentations, demonstrating proper use of tools, templates, fixtures, and other equipment, including centralizing training as required. Trains the Accessory Installation Trainer at all port locations, including group training as required. + Develops Accessory Installation instructions and interacts with Product Development (PD) Project Engineering Managers during new accessory development to ensure timely development of instructions and release for port environment applicability. + Develops and recommends installation techniques, tool selection, development templates, and fixtures to maximize port output volume. Accordingly recommends and suggests any pertinent product improvements for all accessories for Subaru and Alliance vehicles. + Manages the coordination and collection of time studies for accessory installations. Accordingly shares and releases the information with Product Development, Sales, and Marketing groups. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES + Reviews and provides input regarding installation instructions for retailer use. Gives feedback and helps address retailer and customer accessory installation issues as they are reported. + Interacts with suppliers as needed for feedback on product installation, packaging improvements, etc. + Maintains and manages a database that tracks running changes for installation procedures, torque specifications, parts changes, tool requirements, etc. + Communicates product revisions and updates to ports and retailers as appropriate, both directly through Subaru Technical Information System (STIS) and as Tech TIPS newsletter articles, etc. + Supports Advanced Quality Assurance (AQA) Processor Audit Program on as-needed basis, for the validation of proper application and of accessory installation instructions. + Builds necessary contacts and develops a working understanding and relationships with AKB, North American Subaru, Inc. (NASI), and Toyota Motor North America, Inc. (TMNA) as aligned to the position for the applicable interaction and potential tasks. REQUIRED SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS + Moderate-to-high level of technical knowledge and hands-on ability is required. Fabrication skills are preferred. + Familiarity in process improvement, manufacturing, and quality engineering. + Strong verbal presentation skills and ability to connect and communicate with all levels of personnel. Formal training background or experience is preferred. + Ability to comprehend and simplify complex topics and communicate them effectively both verbally and in written form. + Equally comfortable working alone and with others as part of a team. + Experience and proficiency in online, web-based, and alternative training methods. + Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and digital photography. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS degree with 6 to 8 years of experience WORK ENVIRONMENT + Hybrid Role: Eligible for remote work 2 days per week, schedule permitting. (After 90 Days Onboarding) + Physical Demands: Can perform moderate-to-heavy mechanical duties similar to an automotive technician. May be required to lift moderately heavy automotive components up to 50 lbs. Must be able to move equipment and training aids, complying with appropriate OSHA standards. + Internal Work Environment: Ability to work on/ assess vehicles in a shared shop environment and follow established safety rules. Possess a valid drivers license and have the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles is important. + Required Travel: Up to 25%- may include weekends and occasional overseas travel. COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $92,100 – $125,00 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
