Aquatic Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY\n

This position is responsible for overseeing programs and operations of the City of Conroe Aquatic Center, Conroe Waterpark, the Oscar Johnson Jr. Community Center pool and the Westside Recreation Center Pool. The role involves managing aquatic operations, programming, maintaining records and engaging with the community via full-time and part-time support staff. Supervisory and administrative skills, a range of certifications and excellent customer service are required for this position.\n

QUALIFICATIONS\n

Education and Experience:\n\nBachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or related field.\nThree years of related experience with one year in a supervisory role.\n\n

Special Requirements:\n\nCertified as an Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or willingness to obtain within one year of the hire date.\nCurrent American Red Cross certifications-Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Lifeguarding (LG), Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Instructor, AED, and Oxygen Administration are required or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire date.\nCertified as an Aquatic Exercise Association instructor or willingness to obtain within one year of hire date.\nPossession of a valid Texas class \"C\" driver's license is required.\nMust comply with the City of Conroe direct deposit payroll policy.\n\n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nKnowledge of and ability to lifeguard, lead aquatic exercise classes and teach swim lessons and training courses as needed.\nKnowledge of methods and practices required to coordinate aquatic facilities.\nAbility to interact directly with the public utilizing excellent communication and customer service skills.\nAbility to evaluate and improve existing programs; initiate new programs through the planning, developing, implementation and evaluation process.\nAbility to attend training sessions, seminars, workshops and certifications as recommended by supervisor.\n\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n

The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and\/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and\/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.\n
