AR Billing Specialist Part Time

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Associate degree in Accounting or Business Administration highly desired.   

Past work experience of at least one to three (1-3) years within a hospital or clinic environment, an insurance company, managed care organization or other health care financial service setting, performing medical claims processing, financial counseling, financial clearance, accounting or customer service activities, or have successfully completed the requirements of the Patient Access Concierge Trainee job description is highly desired.  Consideration may be given for commensurate customer service experience in another industry.  

Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs, regulations and billing processes (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, Champus, and Supplemental Security Income Disability), managed care contracts and coordination of benefits is highly desired.  Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and medical record coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) is preferred.  

Completion of regulatory/mandatory certifications and skills validation competencies preferred. 

SKILLS AND FUNCTIONS:

In this role, you will be responsible for pre-registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance across various settings. You will ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements and maintain patient information safety through thorough identity verification and accurate record-keeping. This role includes interviewing patients to collect essential data, validating medical records, and determining service authorizations. You will assist patients with required documentation, offer empathetic support in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate with ancillary departments to optimize patient flow. There is a need for quick, strong, and effective communication skills when working with patients, families, the clinical care team, and various stakeholders.
