Key job responsibilities
The Solutions Design Team is searching for an innovative and solutions oriented engineer to help design our next generation Amazon Fulfillment Centers (FCs). A successful candidate will have a passion for creating high-performance physical systems, a strong technical problem solving ability, excellent project management skills, the ability to effectively communicate with and influence decision-makers at all levels and an internal motivation to deliver results in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. The Solutions Design Team is not only responsible for analyzing and optimizing existing Robotic FC performance, but combining those learnings with the latest technologies to design new state of the art robotic material handling systems. The day to day responsibilities include:
• Evaluate and create physical processing and material handling solutions using cutting edge technology, robotics and data analytics to meet the product flow requirements based on Amazon design principles.
• Identify and analyze key operational and financial metrics as part of program and feature selection in order to drive smart decisions.
• Collaborate with systems and operations engineering teams to develop product features and optimize the performance of the FCs.
• Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
• Develop models as required to solve complex problems.
• Influence partner teams within Amazon to answer questions, provide approval/alignment, and ensure high quality deliverables are met on time

About the team
Our team is responsible for the design of the robotics floors in SSD FCs. These buildings are smaller than the typical Large AR Sortable FCs that have been in the network for a decade. The SSD focus is to deliver orders to customers from a smaller ASIN profile but provide them in Faster-Than-Same-Day speeds by placing these SSDs closer to the customers.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelors degree in Engineering (any discipline), or a related field or 2+ years Amazon experience.
· 5+ years of experience in the job offered or related occupation of Design/Innovation, Research & Development, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering, or related.
· Experience must involve ownership of engineering design projects.
· Experience with 2D CAD Modeling
Preferred Qualifications
· Masters degree in Engineering (any discipline), Operations, or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in the specialty with increasing responsibility
· Experience with complex automated systems involving knowledge of material handling equipment, packaging technologies, robotics and high-speed manufacturing.
· Experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
· Experience with Basic Financial modeling.
· Proficiency using business/technical software like AutoCAD software, Asana, and MS Excel.
· Proficiency with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system-level dynamics, system - statistical and reliability analyses, and decision making.
· Experience with Designing for Safety
· Ability to travel 10% globally to interact with internal and external business and technical leaders.
