What a day at EXP has in store for you

As an Archaeological Crew Chief, you’ll lead field crews and ensure the quality and integrity of archaeological data collection. You’ll be responsible for supervising fieldwork, managing logistics, and maintaining safety standards while contributing to meaningful research and documentation.

Your responsibilities include:

Supervise and lead field crews during archaeological surveys, testing, data recovery, and monitoring.Ensure data quality through daily QA/QC of field notes, forms, and artifact records.Collect and manage data using traditional and digital methods (GPS, tablets, specialized software).Manage project logistics including equipment preparation, maintenance, and scheduling.Ensure safety by developing safety plans and identifying potential hazards.Handle documentation and research including site forms, maps, and technical reports.Collaborate with stakeholders such as project managers, landowners, clients, and agency staff.

 

What you bring to the table

Master’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology.Proven experience in archaeological fieldwork, with prior supervisory or leadership roles.Proficiency in digital field technology (GPS, tablets, cameras) and office software (Excel).Strong understanding of state and federal laws, regulations, and professional standards.Knowledge of archaeological classification, cataloging, and reconstruction principles.Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Commitment to safety and ability to work independently and as part of a team.Valid driver’s license.Ability to pass a background check.

 

The pay rate for this position is $30/hr. with eligibility for overtime.
