From environmental planning, permitting, remediation, and site characterization to chemical data management and hydrogeology, Kleinfelder offers a variety of services designed to provide technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions.

 Step Into Your New Role: 

Kleinfelder is seeking Archaeological Technicians to support a 12-week field project on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. The Archaeological Technician will work with a team of archaeologists under the direction of a senior archaeologist/Field Director to perform field tasks, including shoveling, screening, and sorting of archaeological materials.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or greater in Anthropology/Archaeology.Demonstrated archaeological field experience, including completion of a field school.Hawaiʻi or other Pacific Island experience is strongly preferred.Must have a satisfactory driving record and complete a background check.Must complete a pre-employment physical to ensure fitness for duty.Ability to work well with and as part of a team, especially during hot field conditions.

Responsibilities and Expectations

The responsibilities and expectations for this position include, but are not limited to:

Candidates must be able and willing to work outdoors for extended periods under all weather conditions (especially high heat and humidity), sometimes in rugged terrain and conditions.Perform basic archaeological recording tasks (e.g., mapping and preparing thorough written documentation and measured stratigraphic profiles).Competent writing skills and ability to contribute to research and archaeological report writing, if needed.Ability to independently recognize archaeological resources in the field.Communicate efficiently both verbally and in written form and have attention to detail.Help maintain a safe work environment.Familiarity with digital field technology (Trimble GPS) and GIS applications and software (training may be provided depending on applicability).

 

Pay is commensurate with experience and ranges from $26 to $30 per hour.

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays.  The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Hourly range: $21.08 - 35.11.
