Architect, IT Automation & Observability
Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for driving Automation and Observability domain process and technology plans to align with enterprise goals, business plans and business processes. Additional responsibilities include general technical oversight and mentoring of team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%) Analyze, design, and develop domain process and technology roadmaps that align with corporate goals, business plans, and business processes. Strong Understanding of Service Management, IT Operations , Reliability, DevOps Automation & Observability systems Identify, gain buy in for and implement measures towards evolving the efficient consumption of ever more capable services. Plan project activities for a development or engineering team to meet enterprise schedule. Create project design documentation and provide technical oversight to ensure successful delivery. Document, create and maintain domain standards, complying with enterprise standards, ensuring solutions are optimally designed, stable, scalable, secure, well performing and integrated with other solutions. Evaluate emerging process and technology for use in automation and observability domain. Understand and document relationships our Automation and Observability process and technologies to the business outcomes enabled or ensured by same. Identify, analyze, and communicate architecture and integration options and make recommendations to management. Ensure capital projects leverage the processes and technologies from this domain to enable automation and observability from start to finish. Participate in process and technology analysis to ensure high quality, innovative and functional design of automation and observability solutions across the enterprise. Evaluate and shepherd your capital IT projects through the ARB process. Evaluate and mentor capital project teams on meeting Operational Readiness standards as part of all IT projects moving through inception through development and implementation to production. Provide general process and technical oversight and mentoring of team members. Required Qualifications

Experience: 10+ years of increasingly technical Information Technology experience. 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field preferred.  Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.  
 

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities Advanced knowledge of diverse technical configurations, technologies and processing environments. Advanced ability to comprehend business requirements to ensure technical directions are supportive. Advanced ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies. Strong knowledge of integration techniques, webhooks, Apis from monitoring/observability tools, ITSM platform such as ServiceNow. Strong knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes. Strong ability to conduct analysis sessions and may contribute to “Closure Documents.” Ability to estimate the financial impact of technical architecture alternatives. Good knowledge of key IT Reliability metrics, MTTR, MTTD, MTTA and actions required to improve same. Core Competencies
