Raba Kistner is seeking a detailed-oriented, dependable Architect to join our Building Sciences team in Pharr, TX. The Architect will be primarily responsible for supporting the Raba-Kistner Building Sciences Group consulting initiatives through an integrated team approach.  Other responsibilities include: 

Serve as a Project Manager and/or Professional on Building Sciences consulting and design work assigned by Supervisor.Provide mentorship and professional development to other Building Sciences professional, technical, clerical and support staff employees.Participate in monitoring our professional practice, including QA/QC, to ensure it is in substantial compliance with generally accepted practice.Prepare and/or assist in proposal submittals.Participate in coordination and training of local architectural and technical staff.Review documents as needed.Prepare technical reports and/or plans and specifications on Building Sciences projects.Review for approval, prebilling invoices for preparation of final invoicing as required for assigned projects.Review for approval, project purchases as required, for assigned projects.Within the first six-month period, achieve average chargeability goal of not less than 65 percent.Assist and support Supervisor in workload and financial forecasting and planning.  Manage Building Envelope Consulting Services projects in a fiscally responsible manner.   Review monthly project reports with Supervisor and take appropriate action when required.Participate with Supervisor in collection of past due invoices.Plan and effectively utilize managerial skills to advance the department’s profitability and the effectiveness of the Building Sciences staff.Assist with preparation of Statement of Qualifications and Proposals for the South Texas Marketplace Building Envelope Consulting Services group. Provide assistance in expanding our professional practice in the South Texas Marketplace.  This will involve direct marketing with Clients identified in a structured marketing program.Work with the Supervisor in coordinating local business development programs.Notify Supervisor and Executive Management Team of all potential disputes that may lead to legal claims or litigation.Support Executive Management Team as requested to settle disputes or defend against litigation.Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example.Pursue additional Certifications/Registrations through industry recognized organizations to advance individual knowledge of the Building Sciences and support/enhance Raba Kistner Business Development activities and initiatives.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have a minimum High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Master’s Degree in ArchitectureMinimum of 15 years applicable experience in Project management, Architectural design, and consulting and 5 years related management experience.Licensed Architect in the State of Texas.If candidate does not possess a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in architecture, a minimum of 25 years applicable experience in Project management, Architectural design, and consulting is required.Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.

At least one of the following registrations from IIBEC is preferred, but not are required: 

Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO)Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC)Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC)Registered Building Enclosure Consultant (RBEC)Certified Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider (CBECxP) 

Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain. Good organizational skills to utilize company resources efficiently and effectively. Management skills to supervise project teams, monitor, and evaluate progress of projects. Excellent math skills and communication skills both written and oral. Able to supervise employees with varying degrees of experience and educational background.

This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work may require out-of-town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.
