Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Designer to join our Architecture team in our Staunton, VA office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budgetPlans layout of project and integrating engineering elements into unified design for client review and approvalPrepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractorsRepresents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contractAdministers construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plansPrepares studies and reportsPrepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipmentDirects activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documentsResolves client problems and complaints and provides technical advice to project staffPerforms final quality assurance/buildability review of project documentsSigns and seals project documents prepared under his supervisionUnderstands and obeys site safety requirements for construction sitesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Required Skills Knowledge of the art and science of designing buildings and structures, styles of design, and methods of construction of buildings and other physical structuresRead, analyze, and interpret written communication, specifications and drawingsWrite reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsEffectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the publicRead, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals or government regulationsProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other discipline specific softwareProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products Required Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is requiredAbility to obtain Architectural license in applicable state(s)Must complete training and testing for licensure within established time frame About Westwood Professional Services, Inc.
