Your Role
As an Architect specialising in Sciences and Education, you will leverage your extensive experience to design innovative environments for scientific research and educational institutions. You will provide technical leadership, manage project delivery, and contribute to business development efforts. Your role will involve working on all project stages, with a particular focus on RIBA Stages 4/5 and project delivery.
You will be based mostly in Cambridge, with 1 day per week working from our London office.
What You Will Do
Lead multiple projects simultaneously, working with the team to design and deliver major science, education, and institutional projectsManage project lifecycle from inception to completionRepresent Gensler on-site for projects, liaising with clients, contractors, and consultantsProvide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challengesMaintain and develop relationships with consultants, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and contractors in the Cambridge areaContribute to business development efforts, leveraging existing relationships and building new onesLead and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environmentDeliver both interiors and architecture projects, demonstrating versatility in project typesTravel between Cambridge and our London office to build operational partnerships in both locationsYour Qualifications
RIBA or ARB registered8-12+ years of post-ARB qualification experienceStrong background in Sciences, Education, and/or Institutional workExtensive experience in RIBA Stages 4/5 and project deliveryProven track record in design, detailing, and construction documentationExcellent network and relationships with consultants, PMs, QSs, and contractors in CambridgeExperience in or strong interest in Business Development, with a willingness to learn and grow in this areaProficiency in Revit and capability of working to BIM Level 2 standardsExperience with Rhino, Grasshopper, and 3ds Max is advantageousIn-depth knowledge of UK building regulations, standards, and building structuresStrong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship-management skillsAbility to understand how buildings are constructed and create technical documents that succinctly describe the work to be doneWillingness to work in Cambridge most of the week, with one day per week in the London officeThis job description reflects the core activities of the role although there will be changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time.
