Your Role
As a Gensler Senior Project Architect specializing in sports and recreation projects, you will support in leading a team of architects and designers to deliver exceptional stadium and recreational facilities. You will leverage your industry experience and technical expertise to drive projects from concept through completion, with a particular focus on creating dynamic spaces that enhance the athlete and spectator experience.
What You Will Do
Manage client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants, with specific attention to sports-specific requirementsLead the design and delivery of various sports facilities including stadiums, training complexes, recreational centers, and athletic venuesCoordinate with sports governing bodies and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with specific requirements and standardsManage project lifecycle; estimating, bidding, project kick-off, weekly coordination, punch list, turnover, opening, and project close-outSupport communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officialsProvide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges specific to sports architectureMaintain project manual and specifications with particular attention to specialized sports facility requirementsConduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI's during constructionYour Qualifications
Master's degree in ArchitectureRIBA or ARB registered ArchitectMinimum 10 years' experience in designing and delivering sports and recreation projectsDemonstrated deep understanding of sports facility design principles, including field of play requirements, sight lines, training patterns, spectator experienceKnowledge of international sports governing body requirements (FIFA, UEFA IOC, etc.)Proficiency in Revit a must, experience in Rhino, Grasshopper, and 3Ds Max advantageousExperience with the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept to deliveryKnowledge of UK building regulations, standards and building structuresUnderstanding of specialized systems for sports venues (playing surface technology, scoreboard integration, broadcast requirements)Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituentsStrong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship-management skillsExperience in sustainable design practices for large-scale sports facilitiesLife at Gensler
