**Your Opportunity**
Stantec, is seeking an Architectural Historian. This position is for a candidate who can work independently to perform tasks including research, field work, historic context development, evaluations of eligibility, consultation, and report development.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
+ Research and develop historic contexts, and work with other cultural resources personnel to produce compliance documents
+ Prepare written architectural descriptions and determinations of eligibility
+ Perform fieldwork tasks, including photographing resources, and using mobile tablet for data collection
+ Conduct archival research online and at libraries and repositories
+ Prepare inventory forms and technical reports
+ Support consultation with state, federal, and local agencies
+ Additional duties may include support for local and National Register of Historic Places nominations, preservation plans, historic structure reports, cultural resource education materials, Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER) documentation, planning and implementing of mitigation, and other types of special projects
**Qualifications**
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
+ Basic knowledge of cultural resources program management; experience with Section 106 compliance, interaction with Federal agencies; experience with Section 4(f) of the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) Act a plus
+ Must be able to work independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team with other cultural resources and environmental professionals
+ Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Must be willing to travel to meet project needs
+ Requires valid driver’s license and good driving record
**Education and Experience**
+ Graduate degree (M.A., M.S., MHC) or certificate in public history, heritage conservation, architectural history, historic preservation, planning, or related field that meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Guidelines for Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History is required.
+ Experience as an architectural historian/built environment specialist working in cultural resources management consulting is desired but not required
This position works in both field and office settings. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather, remote locations, summer heat, and rough terrain; as well as bending, stooping, carrying field equipment, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
