The Archivist will be part of the UK Archives team, operating a cross-regional service across Cambridge and Macclesfield. As the primary contact for Macclesfield site enquiries, you will work predominantly on your own in a highly regulated GxP environment. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage archiving operations efficiently and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

Accountabilities

Act as primary contact for all archiving at Macclesfield and NW sites. Work closely with AZ customers, collaborators, and partners to deliver appropriate and efficient UK Archiving services in conjunction with the established service level standards and AZ UK Archiving practices and standards.Implement, execute, and oversee all operational aspects of hardcopy archiving including appraisal, ingestion, indexing, storage, preservation, retrieval, retention, and disposition.Act as Designated Archivist for all GxP archiving (GLP, GMP, GCP), ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.Work closely with UK Archiving colleagues and collaborators in the development and improvement of policies, practices, and procedures.Ensure all operational aspects of archiving are in compliance with AZ’s global principles and Code of Conduct, guidelines, policies, and regulatory and litigation requirements.Promote understanding of archiving requirements and provide customer and internal training as needed.Stay up to date with developments and best practices within the archival sector through continuing education and appropriate external memberships.Assess and advise on technical matters of security, longevity, and storage of hardcopy records for preservation, their transfer to the Archive, and their ongoing accessibility.Participate in and advise on the development and implementation of enterprise-wide hardcopy archive solutions for AZ to implement the overall strategy.Monitor and report on metrics to ensure the efficient operation of the Archive.Assist in the development and assimilation of the Global Retention and Disposal standard (GRAD) for all types of records regardless of media.Assist in monitoring any 3rd party suppliers used in the provision of archiving services ensuring their compliance with contractual obligations and company requirements.

Essential Skills/Experience

A recognised Archives and Records Management qualification or equivalent experienceA demonstrable understanding of archival and records management principles and applicationsAn ability to work in a matrix organisation with internal and external collaboratorsSelf-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work with minimal supervisionGood attention to detail and ability to be an analytical thinkerExcellent verbal and written communication, excellent interpersonal skillsGood computer literacy/skills, able to work with new programmes quickly and easilyExcellent organisational skillsInfluencing skills to enable effective management of internal and external collaboratorsAbility to work in a diverse, global group and lead global or cross-functional projectsGood ability to express oneself in English both verbally and in writingProven ability of building and sustaining effective working relationships with customers and suppliers

Desirable Skills/Experience

An ability to deal positively with change and adapt to new situationsExperience of working within a scientific or regulated archive/environmentExperience of working within the pharmaceutical industryKnowledge of archive and regulatory standards (MHRA, HTA etc.)
