Job Description:

Responsible for management and direction of assigned residence halls

Coordinate and collaborate with internal units for room reassignments, room transfers, verification of room conditions, damage control systems, and verification of occupancy within area Identify and facilitate the management of building preparation initiatives and project coordination Serve as the area liaison to internal units (e.g. Building Services, Maintenance, and Operations teams) ensuring all buildings are safe, secure, and well-maintained; conduct building and public facility inspections Provide direction and support for education programs, faculty, and staff within Living Learning Communities located in area Assist with evaluating the efficacy of student learning outcomes, overall engagement, and effectiveness of programs generating reports or recommendations for future direction Assist and collaborate with various internal units to develop plan for resident hall openings, closings and intersessions Review, analyze and create recommendations for area policies, procedures, and general operations Serve as a point of contact for residents, and family members of residents Create a residential environment that promotes belonging and encourages residents to utilize campus resources Promote the on-campus living experience encouraging growth and retention; deliver presentations, attend prospective resident events, steward building relationships with prospective students and families Ensure effective crisis management and building emergency procedures are followed within the residential community including but not limited to fire, mental health and medical services Serve in after hours on-call rotation to respond to emergencies and crisis situations for area of responsibility; provide emergency management direction, support, and follow-up for staff and students; act as a liaison to university resources in emergency situations (e.g. Counselor-on-Call, UF Police Department) Serve as a Campus Security Authority

Manage educational programming within area residence halls

Ensure implementation of schedule of events for academic year that aligns with department mission, supports initiatives, and encourages holistic development Provide general oversight for educational and community programs that promote academic excellence, student success, and contribute to a shared sense of community; assist with on-site event management as needed Responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with other UF departments, including academic departments, in programming and related efforts Advise student leaders involved with Area Government Ensure area communications are aligned with department’s mission and values 

Responsible for supervision of staff and management of general administrative functions for assigned residence halls

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate full-time staff establishing work priorities and workflow; developing goals relevant to the area, and providing general direction and leadership for goal accomplishment. Responsible for administrative functions related to employee management for staff Responsible for budget planning and management for areas of responsibility Coordinate on-call staff schedule for area ensuring appropriate coverage for response Responsible for developing, maintaining, disseminating and enforcing policies, procedures, and guidelines for residence halls Provide general supervision, training, and management of Resident Assistants and Graduate Assistants within area Interpret and ensure compliance with departmental and University policies, guidelines, and other relevant regulations

Responsible for leading and supporting annual student staff initiatives for unit

Organize the interview, selection, and placement processes of resident assistants or Graduate Assistants Coordinate with Housing Human Resources to ensure employment eligibility of selected candidates; ensure recruitment processes align with university guidelines Lead, design, and deliver unit wide annual student staff training program for Resident Assistants or Graduate Assistants Plan, coordinate, and/or conduct on-going continuing education training activities collaborating with campus partners as needed Coordinate Graduate Assistant recruitment process serving as liaison to the Division of Student Life and Student Personnel and Higher Education (SPHE) program Spearhead the implementation of the residential curriculum including but not limited to: updating modules and ensuring proper staff access, evaluating curriculum and requirements creating recommendations for future improvements, collaborating with student organizations IRHA and NRHH as appropriate

Assist with enforcing and coordinating Student Honor Code & Student Conduct Code

Collaborate with Housing and Residence Life Conduct and Community Standards on student conduct programs, policies and procedures for community Serve as a hearing officer for conduct cases utilizing a restorative action approach to help students understand their responsibilities as members of the hall and University community Mediate student and community concerns including, but not limited to, roommate conflicts, student behavior, facilities concerns, and conduct violations, as needed Ensure appropriate reporting processes and procedures are followed relating to Student Honor Code & Student Conduct Code violations

Develop reports, handle special projects, and perform other duties as assigned

Serve on departmental, Division of Student Life or University of Florida committees or program support as needed Operates state vehicles Expected Salary:

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience. Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

Master's degree in higher education, preferably in student personnel, counseling, or administration or other related field Three (3) years of experience within University Housing Proven ability to supervise or lead a high functioning team Demonstrated experience with crisis management Knowledge of student development theory, developing learning outcomes, and the experiential learning process

SKILLS

Experience using Maxient software Demonstrated proficiency with computers and basic software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Demonstrated planning, time management, and organizational skills Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written) Demonstrated interpersonal skills
