Job Description:
DuPont is seeking an Area Manager for our West Alexandria, OH site. The facility produces Specialty Adhesives for the automotive and other industrial sectors. The site is covered by OHSA PSM and is considered a High Hazard site. The facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Area Manager role is an excellent opportunity to develop strong people leadership, business influence, and technical leadership skills. This role leads a team of (12) operators and works closely with the Site technical support staff, while displaying strong Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), technical, and team-building skills. Optimizing plant operations by resolving plant problems and improving production of high margin, quality products is key in this role for maximizing the value of the site.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid manufacturing and engineering background as well as excellent interpersonal and problem solving abilities. The individual must be a team player and be flexible, having the ability to work effectively under the pressure of the dynamic plant demands. This position is a great opportunity to develop for future leadership roles through valuable experiences in leading and developing people including managing conflict resolution, developing a strong culture driving EH&S and Regulatory Compliance and Quality. It also provides experience with internal and external business partners, customer interactions, and cost and reliability performance results.
Key Job Responsibilities Include:
Performs first line leadership of the Site Operators including Performance Management.Provide leadership and direction in the day to day decision making for the operating area of responsibility.Coaches and provides performance feedback to team members to align expectations and overall team effectiveness; Uses reward and recognition to drive the right behaviors and resultsActs as a primary back-up to the Site Leader.Embraces and models DuPont’s Core Values. Demonstrates EH&S leadership with strong field presence.Establishes and communicates challenging performance goals, metrics, and outcomes for site to safely and efficiently meet or exceed production and quality goals aligned to customers’ needsPromotes commitment and ownership of Operational Excellence by engaging team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, eliminate waste, and remove barriers; Uses lean and digital tools effectivelyParticipates in planning/supply chain meetings ensuring alignment on plant capabilities and improvement efforts.Understands all applicable process technology, equipment, and control technology. Works with Technical team and plant personnel to optimize operations to meet Business and plant goals.Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience with demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.Requires excellent leadership, communication, planning and organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change through teamwork, influence and empowerment.Excellent self-awareness and the ability to modify communication style and approach to influence people.Ability to provide coaching and hold people accountable to achieve desired future vision for that individual or group.Because the plant operates 24/7, must be able to be support and interact with off-shifts, when needed.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading people is preferred.Practical knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean principles is preferred.Education:
