Position Summary
As an Area Sales Manager, you will lead a team of talented sales professionals who are responsible for earning the right to do business with producer customers. These long-term relationships help secure supply chains critical to feeding the world’s growing population, improving diets, and decarbonizing the environment through regenerative ag practices. With the direction of your Regional Sales Manager, you will have responsibility for a large sales territory, overseeing the origination activities for ADM’s Grain and Oilseeds business within the Western IL/Missouri Region.  

You might be the right candidate if you have experience with leading a sales team, and background in the agricultural industry around production agriculture and its interconnected markets. Your skill set should encompass collaborating seamlessly with both direct and indirect stakeholders, building and leading a team of sales professionals to achieve desired results, and playing a pivotal role in serving producers while they navigate the intricacies of regen ag programs and marketing decisions.

What You’ll Do:Lead and support farm direct grain origination, strategy, and growth with a team of sales personnel while staying in lock step with operational and commercial business partners including regenerative ag and fertilizerBecome a trusted advisor by establishing positive relationships based on your ability to uncover customer needs and dedication to delivering value Develop customer acuity to understand each customer’s footprint, strategic growth plans, technology strategy and the competitive landscapeLearn and develop the region's unique origination footprint, strategic goals, technological plans, and ever-evolving competitive landscape.Execute and support regional Regen Ag programs which may include data management and technology adoptionCollaborate with commercial and operations segments to create peak performance for ADM, while creating the best customer experience for the producerDevelop market opinion to help inform team members and customers of market opportunitiesImplement consistent prospecting and pipeline development plans of each team member tailored to their individual territoriesEvaluate and manage the strengths and weaknesses of your team through uplifting coaching, mentoring, and strategic staffingProvide and encourage leadership and education of grain and related markets to sales team members and other ADM stakeholdersCollaborate with commercial partners on asset specific goals and ensure alignmentWho We’re Looking For:
Preferred7+ years sales experienceDemonstrate capacity to evaluate and manage risk, along with an understanding of how to lead and conduct professional sales calls with customers and prospectsDedication to be a positive & professional team leaderAbility to function as a leader to coach, mentor, and develop sales staff with strong collaboration across other job functionsSelf-starter who will communicate area’s for the business to improve internally and externallyStrong analytical abilities, initiative and problem-solving skills necessary to adapt to a rapidly changing environmentEffective oral and written communication skills as well as ability to interface with various levels within ADMBasic understanding of grain markets, grain contracting methods, related ag markets and offerings, production agriculture and the application of those to the producerMinimumProficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook and TeamsProficient in the use and application of mobile technologyDedication to utilize technology applications that are critical to sales activitiesCommitment to own the use of Salesforce to track customer interactions and capture critical business informationCommitment to territory planning, development and efficient executionExceptional organizational and time-management skillsEarly adopter of new technology and ability to lead and influence other target usersBachelor’s Degree requiredExcited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed?
