Production Area Supervisor Summary
Oversee the planning, scheduling and assignment of the billet finishing operation to produce the product within quality and cost objectives; investigate and resolve operational problems; set the direction of operations; oversee the implementation of changes involving equipment and work methods, which include process improvements; answers grievances; administer disciplinary action when required; coordinate activities between departments; establish and maintain quality communications with supervisors; participate in daily line walks and speak to TOC lines, material yield and daily flex; responsible for schedule adherence and PCC Metrics; perform other duties as directed..
Essential Functions
Lead, supervise, evaluate, and coach personnel to maximize efficiency and the quality of the work performed.
Coordinate equipment reliability activity between operations, maintenance and engineering.
Effectively communicate company and department goals, achievements, problems, solutions, practices, changes, and enforce all company policies, rules, and regulations.
Maintain a world-class safe, clean and organized environment.
Maintain high ethical standards and integrity. Conduct all operations in a professional and businesslike manner and adhere to the PCC Code of Conduct.
Complete and issue production, maintenance, and project status reports and memos as required.
Assist as needed by conducting (teaching) in-house training (safety, operational, quality, maintenance, and orientation) classes for employees and production supervisors.
Work with operators and maintenance to troubleshoot equipment performance/quality issues and causes for breakdowns.
Schedule adherence to customer commitments. Provide status reports and feedback to logistics team in written and/or verbal communication. Based on product line responsibilities review schedule adherence as necessary provide updated and re-promised delivery information to logistic team.
Utilize the PCC Toolbox to achieve PCC metrics related to the 26 schedules
Work with CI and Purchasing on material savings and cost reduction projects
Initiate and lead material savings projects
Ensure all manufacturing requirements are met.
Coordinate and lead material offload as needed to meet deliveries and/or metrics
Must be willing to work overtime to ensure that projects are implemented on a timely basis.
Additional Responsibilities
Run reports in SAP to track and move material through the Department.
Add EO’s in SAP if clerical personnel are not available to assist.
Administer employees’ time through e-time.
Assist with filling overtime when needed to meet production requirements.
Support the development and application of the appropriate performance metrics that will promote long-term continuous improvement programs consistent with the operating objectives of the department
Document and maintain employee-training records.
Fills in for department manager as required.
Qualifications
