The role
As an Area Support Team Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. In this role you will be deployed around the UK to work on advanced military vehicles.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll carry out routine and bespoke inspection, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis mechanical or electrical repair to a wide range of advanced military wheeled vehicles to Level 1 and 2 Maintenance Standards. All repairs are to be compliant with VOSA/DofT inspection standards, all activities are to be carried out in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation, Babcock policy, Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP’s) and manufacturers’ handbooks.

 

Carry out vehicle examinations in accordance with current legislation Capable of in-depth engineering work and diagnostics on large, and small vehicles Able to adapt to a wide variety of unusual vehicle platforms using modern repair techniques and skills Adept at reading and utilising repair manuals, spares lists and modern diagnostic schematics through modern media assets

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

 

This role is full time, 60 hours per week and is based at Catterick with regular travel across the UK.

 

Essential experience of the Area Support Team Vehicle Mechanic – UK Based:

Experienced IT skills competent at utilising laptops and diagnostic computers with a good understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to make rational decisions based on information available Ability to challenge and have awkward conversations

 

Qualifications for the Area Support Team Vehicle Mechanic – UK Based:

A recognised qualification in Automotive Engineering with a minimum C&G level 3 or BTEC/IMI/NVQ equivalent or has served in HM Armed Forces as a Vehicle Mechanic Class One. B1 Driving Licence  
 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
