Armed Security Guard Location: Lehi, UT Status: Part-time Hours: Monday – Thursday; 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Pay/Salary: $18.00 -$20.00 hourly Summary The Armed Security Guard is responsible for safeguarding assigned property, promoting safety, and serving as a visible deterrent to irregular activities. This role involves building positive relationships with faculty and staff while ensuring adherence to rules, regulations, policies, procedures, codes, and laws to maintain a safe and high-quality campus environment. The position requires a valid armed guard license under Utah DOPL regulations or the ability to complete Utah DOPL armed guard training promptly after hire. Why Work with Us? + Positive Work Culture: Be a part of a friendly, team-oriented environment where your contributions are valued. + Professional Growth: Receive an MTECH tuition waiver after three months (minimum hours may apply), opening doors to further your education and skills What You'll Do: Responsibilities of the Armed Security Guard include, but are not limited to: + Assist the Security & Risk Manager in ensuring the safety and security of college property and its environment. + Operate and inspect Life Safety Systems to ensure proper functionality. + Conduct regular patrols of designated areas to deter intrusion, damage, hazards, and security breaches. + Safeguard property and occupants against theft, vandalism, trespassing, or accidents. + Maintain a visible presence to promote and enforce safety and security measures. + Identify and investigate suspicious activities, threats, and irregular behavior. + Respond to alarms and calls for assistance promptly and effectively. + Monitor and regulate the entry and exit of employees, students, and visitors per established protocols. + Detect and address unauthorized individuals and security violations. + Electronic monitoring systems are used to inspect property and maintain security. + Enforce laws, policies, and regulations relevant to individuals on campus property. + Document and report rule violations and infractions. + Prevent the movement of prohibited items onto or off the property. + Conduct exterior property checks to identify maintenance issues, malfunctions, or safety hazards. + Notify appropriate authorities to address unlawful or irregular activities. + Communicate effectively using radios or other devices, ensuring clarity and precision. + Prepare detailed reports of daily activities, observations, and incidents. + Execute the emergency plan in the event of a crisis. + Maintain a current State of Utah DOPL Armed Guard license. What We're Looking For: + A high school diploma or equivalent is required. + Must be able to perform foot patrols as required. + Must hold or be eligible to obtain a State of Utah DOPL Armed Guard license and complete required training promptly after hire. + Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. + Successfully pass a criminal background check and hold a valid Utah driver's license with an acceptable driving record. + Possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. + Knowledgeable in security operations, safety practices, and safety equipment. + Must be familiar with enforcement policies, procedures, and protocols. + Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. + Needs a strong professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, diplomacy, and cooperative problem-solving. + Skilled in collaborating with students, employees, citizens, and local, state, and federal officials.
