Our Financial Management & Business Analysis Portfolio supports the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC); the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (ASA) Financial Management and Comptroller (FM&C); the U.S. Army Financial Management Command (USAFMCOM); the Defense Health Agency (DHA); and many other DoD customers.  We ensure the Army FM systems and processes are modernized and integrated to provide a complete range of financial and cost information needed for the Army to conduct business transactions, provide accountability to the public, and to support performance reporting and decision making.  We provide effective functional systems support, user technical support, training support, and governance support of the Army's modernized and deployed FM domain ERP systems (GFEBS / GFEBS-SA / GCSS-A (Finance)), ensuring technological capabilities maturation and evolution aligns with Army and FM domain goals and objectives.  And we are responsible for the implementation and sustainment of the Army's General Funds Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) within DHA’s Military Health System (MHS). #MC

Responsibilities

We are looking for an Army Staff Accountant to join our team to support the USAFMCOM; Army Accounting and Audit Operations (A3O).

The Army Staff Accountant will provide recommendations and services to improve the accuracy, reliability, timeliness, and internal control environment of the Army General Fund (AGF) to enable successful attestation and audit, specifically in areas related to Secure Financials. The Staff Accountant will provide knowledge and guidance in accounting and audit support as well as knowledge and understanding of Army and DOD financial management systems.

Your day-to-day work will include:

Developing and/or executing reconciliations and conducting variance analysis of accounting, entitlement, or other data.Working with Data System Analysts to resolve data discrepancies and anomalies.Developing and implementing internal controls to support accurate financial statement reporting.Remediating deficiencies identified in Army internal and external audits related to Secure Financials.Recommending new business processes or controls needed to achieve financial statement assertions.Monitoring financial reporting controls and validating corrective actions.Researching and corroborating buyer-side and seller-side intragovernmental transaction (IGT) details for relevant legacy and non-legacy accounting system general ledger balances.Providing detailed analysis and guidance for operational accounting issues and developing monitoring mechanisms to gauge progress.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related fieldAt least 2-5 years of experience in accounting and auditingExperience researching and resolving discrepancies between systems and data setsExperience providing accounting and audit support within the DoD/Army, experience working with and reporting to DoD government leadership, and familiarity with DoD financial management systems such as STANFINS, GFEBS, and ADVANAAn active SECRET security clearance and the ability to be upgraded to a TOP SECRET clearance
