Summary:
The Art Events Manager will facilitate and manage all art department events under the guidance and instruction of the Director of Arts. They will be responsible for organizing and developing projects, trips, major events and all details including but not limited to location, volunteers, contracts, budget, invoicing, set up and break down, administrative duties, correspondence, media/marketing and working with other NYE departments to ensure success. They should be creative and initiate ways in which we can create new events and project ideas based on the evolving needs of our afterschool programming. Will visit our Champions After School art programs in all 5 boroughs to prep event participation by sites and students. They will attend and assist with all art department workshops/trainings. Requires experience producing performances with a strong understanding in lighting, sound and stage management. They serve as a role model to youth, always conducting themself in the utmost professional manner and maintaining appropriate boundaries. They should have experience working with kids and must drive and have a car. The applicant should be versatile in all arts genres. In addition to their understanding of various art forms they will be able to support site visits, observation and coaching of teaching artists, curriculum development and be a resource to programs. Candidates must be available to work on Saturday’s as needed. The Art Events Manager will report to the Director of Arts and will assist and work with all Art Department staff to expand the Arts Departments projects and overall mission.
Responsibilities:
+ Help/Assist with all training sessions (including location, material and all preparation)
+ Research and organize student and teaching artist trips or professional development
+ Visit sites, observe performing arts classes & seek out sites with potential for participation in major NYE events
+ Develop partnerships with organizations where we can host events, trips, workshops etc.
+ Create a budget for events and be responsible for invoices and payment regarding events
+ Help plan and set-up events (research, identify goals, prepare the exhibition, pre-event marketing, organizing the team, live marketing/social media, key talking points as needed, transportation of materials, host of event/emcee, volunteer support, post-event marketing and follow up)
+ Responsible for contracts, correspondence, administrative duties and run of day of various events, trips, workshops etc
+ Communications for events; team up with other NYE departments to ensure events are marketed with flyer or necessary material, advertised to sites with proper sign up, the event itself is marketed for attendance of parents, stakeholders, etc. and communications department and social media outlets are well informed for outreach
+ Understanding of stage production (lighting, sound) and stage management and gallery curation
Required skills:
+ Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the performing arts and have prepared and run successful events for arts related organizations
+ Must have prior experience working with students
+ Must have knowledge in performing and visual arts terminology, history and resources.
+ Must be responsible, reliable and punctual!
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
Qualifications:
+ BA or BFA in the Arts and/or in communications, public relations, arts education
+ Minimum of three to five years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
+ Must have passion for NYE mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development.
+ Must pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to employment history and criminal background check
