Peckham Inc. - Art From the Heart Clinical Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
Peckham’s Art from the Heart Program is looking for an Art Studio Intern who will support the planning and coordination of Peckham Art programs for team members. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in arts programming, engage with diverse communities, and enhance creative and organizational skills. The Art Studio Intern will assist the Creative Experiences Coordinator in regular art program functioning and will take pride in executing creative projects with attention to detail and respect for client’s art pieces. This position requires 10 hours per week.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Provide support to the Creative Experiences Coordinator on a variety of short/long term creative projects, and shadows meetings throughout the organization
+ Prepare art supplies before classes, clean up after classes, eventually run classes independently
+ Manage art supplies (filling paint, organize cabinets, inventory frames, etc.)
+ Facilitate custom art experiences for Peckham clients across locations
+ Assist in maintaining a physical and digital catalog of artwork by scanning and organizing
+ Prepare artwork for display and for sale including matting and framing artwork for shows and other events
+ Create a safe, non-judgmental environment in the art studio
+ Plan, coordinate and facilitate art activities with people of diverse abilities
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Promote Peckham’s vision, value, culture, and commitment to excellent customer services to all team members, staff, customers and stakeholders
+ Maintain a safe and clean work environment
+ Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Travel
Travel to Michigan locations is required up to 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Currently pursuing a degree in Art, Art Education, Arts Administration, or a related field. Self-driven and able to take initiative in an independent work environment
+ Comfortable working with people of all abilities, cultures and ages
+ Interest in pursuing a human-focused field involving the creative arts, such as art therapy, art education, community-based art or arts administration
+ Proficient in Adobe Photoshop
+ Knowledgeable with varied media such as painting, drawing, mixed media, clay, crafts, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Ability to provide work samples or a portfolio showcasing artistic skills, creative projects, or relevant experience.
