The MITRE Expeditionary Department is seeking a dedicated technologist, systems thinker, and intelligence professional to serve as a Marine Corps artificial intelligence systems engineer. The MITRE Expeditionary Department delivers innovative concepts, technologies, and methodologies enabling current and future Naval superiority. Risk takers able to exercise agility across a complex enterprise will find a home in the Naval Division where their skills will push the boundaries of military digital and mission engineering. This position requires creative problem solving through novel applications of systems of systems engineering and systems thinking to facilitate application of new technologies to the naval expeditionary operational space.
The ideal candidate will have deep operational and domain knowledge of the Marine Corps meshed with an exquisite knowledge of current and future naval domain operational visions, doctrines, and tactical employments in the presence of US peer competitors. The successful candidate will enjoy working with diverse and geographically dispersed teams to answer our sponsors’ hardest questions regarding the application of emergent technologies to real-world operational employment problems.
This role requires creative problem-solving abilities, utilizing Agile systems of systems engineering practices to make significant contributions across the enterprise and create strategic impact. The ideal candidate will be a champion for cultural and organizational transformation in data analytics, machine learning technologies, and the influence of artificial intelligence capabilities on society, industry, and defense. The selected candidate will work with diverse and geographically dispersed teams to address our sponsors' most pressing queries about the application of Agile systems engineering principles to create value.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead MITRE thinking about emergent Naval capabilities, vision, doctrine, and organizational perspectivesShape Naval and other sponsor thinking about emergent technologies related to identity management, access control, intelligence communications, oversight, and compliance, and systems and cybersecurity to support the future fight.Advise sponsors and teams of engineers of the operational implications of technologies and technical concepts as applied in real-world operational scenarios.Provide technical leadership in data intelligence as a functional discipline, incorporating data science principles such as statistical analysis, data visualization, data analytics, and data engineering to revolutionize Marine Corps intelligence production.Serve as a key subject matter expert to, or leader of, dynamic multi-disciplined teams that develop technical solutions through innovation.Lead multi-disciplined MITRE teams in real-world technology transfer efforts to deliver prototype technical solutions to end users.Clearly and concisely communicate highly technical analyses and recommendations to sponsors and partners in written and verbal products.Implement systems engineering principles to develop data-driven insights and mature them into actionable recommendations that achieve mission outcomes for the Naval sponsors.Seeking developer/architect candidate familiar with implementation of artificial intelligence with experience using Large Language Models (LLMs) and others applied to sponsor applications.Applied Artificial Intelligence, artificial intelligence, Acquisition Lifecycle Systems Engineering, Data Management & GovernanceBasic Qualifications:
Typically, Interdisciplinary formal education background with at least a Bachelor of Science in a computer science field of study and 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Master’s degree;Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraphStrong background in operational employment of artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation and Large Language Models (LLMs) capabilities across industry and government agencies, new technologies, and process improvement.Current experience in Naval capability definition and implementation, and emergent technology operationalization and adoptionDemonstrated skills in development of technical documents related to data analytics, and visualization, as well as data literacy and communication capabilities. Examples of documents would be Concepts of Employment, implementation guidelines, and standardization specifications; all based on current USMC and Naval documented priorities.Proven knowledge of workforce development, systems engineering and intelligence technology, operational readiness, and full-spectrum intelligence support to the cyber, information, and electronic warfare operations. Proven ability to develop and provide technical briefs at various levels of MITRE and sponsor leadership.This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience in systems integration of intelligence communications capabilities that span various media, supporting C5ISRT applications across a geographically dispersed architecture.Experience working with the Marine Corps ISR leadership to develop standard practices for data mining, data engineering, systems administration, cybersecurity, and systems engineering.Experience with the operational planning process and operational planning for the Naval force in the context of great power competition against a peer competitor.Experience with data and analytics strategy development for the intelligence mission area.Experience with system development methodologies.Experience with problem-solving, analysis, communication, and detailed documentation.Active TS/SCI with polyThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
