Artillery Optics Small Arms Inspector
Summary CHENEGA FACILITIES MANAGEMENT, LLC Fort Sill, OK The Artillery Optics Small Arms Inspector will perform full range of maintenance associated with small arms and crew-served weapons , along with towed, self-propelled, and turret artillery and their mounts, turrets, and carriages from operator’s Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) through Unit Maintenance PMCS using applicable Technical Manual. Responsibilities Makes the initial acceptance inspection which consists of diagnosis and location of mechanical deficiencies and malfunctions in a variety of arms such as automatic pistols and rifles, carbines, recoilless rifles, rocket launchers, and multibarrier machine guns. Performs the full range of work involved in the maintenance and repair of small arms. Performs complete disassembly; completely checks all parts by visual, gauge or operational means. Modifies weapons by replacing obsolete parts and/or assemblies in accordance with DA modification work orders. Determines the nature and extent of repairs required; disassembles; examines parts and assemblies for serviceability; replaces parts and assemblies as required; and reassembles, adjusts, and calibrates light, medium, and heavy artillery. Repairs and/or modifies mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and assemblies, such as elevating, traversing, recoil, loading, ramming, and firing systems; breech, tube, pumps, equilibrators, trails, bogies, cupolas, outriggers, shields, and their components. Uses technical manuals, bulletins and written directives in the performance of inspections and equipment validation. Required to complete reports of equipment validation. Determines and orders repair parts on each work order. May travel out of town to other locations to perform inspections as directed by supervision. Other duties as assigned Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum one (1) year experience in small arms, artillery and or optic maintenance and repair OR Completion of an accredited Gunsmith or Gunsmith Technology Program Possess and maintain a current Oklahoma Driver’s License. Formal training in small arms, artillery and or optic maintenance and repair at the USER/DS/GS level Preferred. Completion of formal military or civilian training in small arms repair is Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) for computer access Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Be familiar with the characteristics, inspection and maintenance, components and accessories.
