Job Description

Your role will include but not limited to:

Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion. Perform Legal Inspections on all Winders and associated equipment as per MHSA requirements.Perform maintenance and repair of Koepe and double drum winders and other equipment in the section including, but not limited to: Compressors & Refrigeration plants. Carry out scheduled and non-scheduled repairs and installation work as required to ensure optimum equipment availability and reliability.

This role is in the Engineering department at a CL level reporting to the Senior Engineering Foreman.

QualificationsGrade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification with mathematics and ScienceTrade Certificate:  Fitter or Fitting & Turning

Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers LicenseComputer literacy – MS Office SuiteBe prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, callouts, and work overtimeAbility to work at heights and in confined spacesFor all internal applicants, you are required to complete an internal application form and attach detailed CV. This form must be accompanied with a signature from your immediate Line Manager and Head of Department, failure to do so will render your application invalid.

Role specific experience / knowledge:

Minimum of 5 years previous experience on a mine as an artisan of which a minimum of 3 years previous experience as a Winder Fitter Experience or exposure to single or double drum Winders Experience or exposure to Koepe Winders would be advantageousA sound knowledge of hydraulic systems as these pertain to a heavy mechanical plant such as windersExperience on SIL (Safety Integrity Level) rated installations would be preferredSound knowledge and experience of Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to field of workSkills to troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical systems and major equipment within area of responsibilityPlease note:  Will be expected of all successful candidates to undergo training regarding the winder system at the mine
