Eurofins Environment Testing Australia is an Environmental testing network of fully accredited laboratories. With a staff of over 300 our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong. We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney. We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater.
+ Full time, permanent position based in Girraween, NSW.
+ Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
+ Salary dependent on candidate skills and experience.
+ An extra 1.5% superannuation paid on top of national standard rate.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this role will be responsible for the identification of asbestos fibres according to the ISO 17025 accredited laboratory test methods. This may be restricted to building materials only, or additionally be extended to soils with suitable training and experience. The Asbestos Counter will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of airborne fibre monitoring samples in accordance with the laboratory test method.
Key accountabilities include but not limited to:
+ Perform routine asbestos analytical, physical tests and sample preparation as required.
+ Control own work flows.
+ Ensure samples are tested in a timely manner, completed and integrity of results maintained.
+ Ensure correct methods are used and adhered to.
+ Calibrate and maintain equipment, ensuring maintenance logs are kept up to date.
+ Ensure correct quality control procedures are used and adhered to, including Asbestos internal quality control sample analysis.
+ Identify and report quality issues and implement the correct and preventative actions.
+ Perform all the analysis assigned by the section supervisor.
+ Monitor, encourage and support laboratory technicians as required.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will obtain the following:
+ A minimum education level of Certificate 4 in Laboratory Techniques or similar or previous experience in a similar laboratory role or related field.
+ Following initial training, the new analyst must show compliance with the internal quality control requirements outlined in SOP05 prior to enrolment in a proficiency testing program.
+ Satisfactory result during a proficiency testing round forms the minimum demonstration of competence to submit results by 'calculating' spreadsheets.
+ General preference and comfort in technical environments.
+ Desire to continually learn and improve.
+ Strong attention to details and good observation skills.
+ Good organisation skills.
