ASC - Biller/Coder
Community Health Systems
The primary function of this position is to prepare and submit claims and statements to third-party payers and guarantors. Responsible for certain coding functions and maintaining accounts receivables. Eligible for 401(k). **Schedule: PRN days, must work 4 shifts within a 6 week period.**
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Process claims daily, provide all required attachments as appropriate
+ Submits all primary, secondary, and tertiary claims electronically to the clearinghouse
+ Corrects unbilled claim edits as appropriate to ensure claims final bill
+ Understands and abides by all CMS billing compliance regulations
+ Understands ICD9/10 and CPT/HCPCS coding, CCI edits, APC’s as well as third party payor billing requirements
+ Appends bilateral, multiple procedure, and special requirement modifiers appropriately
+ Verifies accuracy of insurance payments and adjustments received/posted
+ Follow-up on insurance claims within 30 days of billing for commercial, 21 days for government payors
+ Respond to all billing related inquiries and interact with patients when required to bring account to closure
+ Print and mail patient statements on a monthly basis
+ Reviews outstanding patient A/R on a weekly basis. Patient account balances of more than 90 days with no payment will be reviewed with manager and turned over to collections
+ Submit refund requests with supporting documentation to manager
+ Assists and backs up other business office positions as needed
+ Answers telephone, questions, and returns calls in a courteous timely manner
+ Performs additional duties as assigned or requested
**Education/Experience:**
+ High school diploma or GED certificate
+ Surgery center/hospital/medical office experience preferred
+ Minimum of 1 year billing experience required
+ Minimum of 1 year accounts receivables required
Grandview Endoscopy Center is an outpatient endoscopyfacility which islocatedin theGrandview Physicians Plaza at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. There are 16 pre/post procedural beds and four state-of-the-art endoscopic procedure rooms. The Center will provide therapeutic and diagnostic services of various diseases involving the gastrointestinal tract, especially colon cancer screenings, ina personalized and caring environment. Grandview Endoscopy Center anticipatesAccreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accreditation CMS Certification, following surveys in late Summer / early Fall of 2019.
