For information on our international network visitwww.colas.com. Job Summary Barrett Paving Materials MWC is seeking a skilled and dedicated Asphalt/Milling Operator to join our team. The operator will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of milling machines and related equipment during asphalt paving projects. This position requires a thorough understanding of milling operations, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team to produce high-quality results. Key Responsibilities + Operate milling machines and other heavy construction equipment during asphalt paving operations. + Set up equipment for milling operations, including adjusting machine settings and performing pre-operation inspections. + Monitor milling depth, material flow, and equipment performance to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards. + Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on milling equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. + Collaborate with project foremen and crew members to ensure smooth workflow and coordination during operations. + Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment for all team members. + Keep accurate records of daily activities, including production rates, material usage, and any equipment issues encountered. + Assist in training and mentoring junior operators and laborers as needed. Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent preferred; certification in heavy equipment operation is a plus. + Proven experience operating milling machines and other heavy equipment in a construction or paving environment. + Strong understanding of asphalt paving processes and machinery. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and project specifications. + Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs). + Valid driver's license; a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred. + Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to risk management.
