Position Overview:
Assembly Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to bring high quality, innovative product to the hands of people who enjoy it. This individual will work cross functionally with teams across the manufacturing business including Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Outside tooling venders, etc. Responsible for establishing and implementing the most cost-efficient methods for production by planning and coordinating the activities necessary to produce specified products within safety, quality and cost standards. The work environment is fast paced, hands-on and interactive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work within peer group in collaboration and team essence.Lead value stream for the technical team.Develops and updates process documentation and procedure instruction.Conducts direct labor studies using acceptable engineering practices and establishes standards on operations, set up and workstation layout.Defines tooling and fixtures used in the manufacturing process. Coordinates with tool designers to specify or procure new tooling, fixtures and ideas and fixtures.Analyzes and evaluates manufacturing methods and standards. Provides solutions to problems adversely affecting operator safety, quality, productivity, and/or cost.Identifies areas of unnecessary cost. Research methods and procedures for cost reductions, work cell development and material flow improvement.Assists in development and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment.Reviews preliminary designs, making recommendations to reduce costs and improve manufacturability and quality on new or existing parts.Develops detailed, complete and accurate capital equipment studies and makes appropriate recommendations for capital expenditures.Develops and communicates clear project timelines with milestones. Ensures successful project execution by accomplishing milestones with status updates.Assists in preparation of departmental budget including material, manpower, equipment and outside procurement costs, and operates within approved parameters.Reviews and evaluates cost pertaining to make vs. buy decisions and new product development.Process purchase requisitions and records as required.Team members are expected to work wherever needed based on training.Work in safe and healthy manner, strictly following all safety rules and regulations.Maintain a neat, clean, orderly work area.Complete company provided training.Participate in continuous improvement processes.Perform special projects as assigned.SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and/or Industrial Engineering is required.2-5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience is required, with a strong preference of experience within assembly, sub-assembly, and/or component assembly.Lean Manufacturing knowledge is desirable and strongly preferred.Ability to work in a strong team dynamic with previous leadership experience is preferred.Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Excellent verbal and written skills required.Proficiency with PC's (MS Office) and CAD software.Excellent mechanical aptitude and mechanic skills.Understanding of SPC.Strong Project Management skills.WORKING CONDITIONS:
Fast-paced manufacturing environment with high technology driven processes.Office and manufacturing environment with most of the time spent on the floor (80/20 manufacturing vs. office environment).
