Job Title: Assembly Technician
Position Overview: As an Assembly Technician within our manufacturing team, you will play a key role in assembling components and systems, including printed circuit boards (PCBs), salinity cells, proximity switches and various others for defense-related products. You will be responsible for following detailed assembly instructions, ensuring quality standards are met, and working closely with the production team to maintain efficient workflows. You will also be required to properly document and record labor hours through the company’s ERP system to ensure accurate tracking of production time.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Assembly of Components and Systems:
+ Assemble electronic components, including printed circuit boards (PCBs), using a variety of hand tools, soldering equipment, and other assembly tools.
+ Follow detailed assembly instructions, work orders, and schematics to ensure accurate and high-quality assembly of products.
+ Perform assembly of both surface-mount and through-hole components on PCBs, ensuring proper soldering techniques are used to meet specifications.
+ Inspect and verify the quality of components and finished assemblies, identifying any defects or issues, and making adjustments as necessary.
+ Quality Control and Inspection:
+ Conduct visual and functional inspections of assembled components and systems, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
+ Perform quality checks on each assembly stage, including solder joint integrity, component placement, and overall functionality.
+ Document and report any defects or discrepancies found during the inspection process, ensuring that corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.
+ Documentation and Recording:
+ Accurately record labor hours and production data in the company’s ERP system, ensuring all hours worked and materials used are properly logged.
+ Maintain clear and accurate records of assembly procedures, inspection results, and any issues encountered during the assembly process.
+ Update and track assembly job statuses, report on progress, and ensure production schedules are met.
+ Collaboration and Communication:
+ Work closely with the production team, quality control, and engineering staff to address any assembly challenges and ensure timely completion of projects.
+ Communicate any issues or concerns regarding assembly processes, materials, or tools to the appropriate team members or supervisors.
+ Support cross-functional teams with troubleshooting and resolving assembly-related issues to maintain smooth production flow.
+ Safety and Compliance:
+ Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating assembly tools and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
+ Follow all regulatory guidelines and standards related to the assembly of electronic components and systems, including compliance with defense industry requirements.
+ Continuous Improvement:
+ Identify opportunities for process improvements in assembly techniques, tools, and workflows, and actively contribute to efficiency and quality enhancements.
+ Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electronics or assembly is a plus.
+ Previous experience assembling printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic components, preferably in a defense or manufacturing environment.
+ Strong understanding of assembly procedures, tools, and techniques, including soldering and component placement.
+ Ability to read and follow technical schematics, work instructions, and assembly drawings.
+ Proficiency in using hand tools, soldering equipment, and other assembly instruments.
+ Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
+ Familiarity with ERP systems for tracking labor hours and production data.
+ Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with team members and other departments.
+ Strong commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.
Reporting Structure: The Assembly Technician will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and work closely with other departments including production, quality control, and engineering.
