This position provides life/work balance with typically a 40-hour work week.

PurposeThe Assessment Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of assessment activities across the university, especially focusing on service and support units, administrative units, and the Core Curriculum. They will collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to uphold compliance with university policy, state law, and accreditation requirements and contribute to applied research projects that leverage data and technology for real improvements to the Longhorn learning experience.
ResponsibilitiesLead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of reporting processes for outcomes assessment in service and support units, administrative units, and the Core Curriculum; support processes for student learning outcomes assessment in degree programs.Collaborate with faculty and staff in all areas to (1) align assessments with state, institutional, and unit level outcomes, (2) assess them rigorously, and (3) seek improvements based on analysis of the results.Serve as a central point of contact for assessment-related inquiries, offering expertise in a variety of assessment and research methods.Manage and maintain secure and accurate documentation on all aspects of assessment operations, including policy and procedure formulation, institutional and unit-level reports, and innovation projects.Develop and manage campus-wide assessment technologies and resources; collaborate with vendors to ensure that assessment management systems are user-friendly, cost effective, and produce viable reports.Design and deliver training on good practices in assessment and data collection, analysis, and interpretation.Assist in formulating and updating internal policies for academic and non-academic assessment that align with state and federal law and accreditation requirements.Contribute meaningfully to new or ongoing applied research projects on the student learning experience.Required QualificationsIt's possible that no single candidate will offer all desired qualifications - above all else, we're looking for someone with a foundation in higher education assessment and an eagerness and ability to learn new skills and solve dynamic problems in an encouraging and expansive environment.
Master’s degree in education, higher education administration, or a related field.At least three years of experience in higher education assessment or institutional effectiveness.Proven record in designing and implementing assessment processes, conducting analyses, and using data-driven insights for program improvement.Proven organizational aptitude and attention to detail, including experience managing multiple projects and maintaining comprehensive documentation for institutional accreditation and compliance.Proficiency with assessment management systems and familiarity with learning management systems.Proficiency with qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis and visualization.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating training materials or guides.Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators across an institution.Experience leading cross-functional teams or committees.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
Preferred QualificationsPh.D. in education, higher education administration, or a related field.Prior experience developing assessment policies and procedures at the institutional level.Prior experience with the Nuventive assessment management system and/or Canvas learning management system.Proficiency with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.Experience with program evaluation frameworks for administrative or non-academic units.Prior knowledge and experience with UT Austin processes, policies, programs, or technologies.Salary Range$72,000+ depending on qualifications
