Role Description: 

Arcadis is seeking an Asset and Enterprise Climate Risk and Resilience - National Practice Leader to join the Resilience Water Business Area (BA) in the United States. This full-time position reports directly to the Resilience Water Management Practice Director and can be based in San Francisco, Houston, Atlanta, Seattle, Virginia Beach, Raleigh, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, New Orleans, Arlington, Chicago, Milwaukee, or New York City. 

The Asset and Enterprise Climate Risk and Resilience Practice focuses on integrating climate risk management and asset resilience to help clients navigate climate-related challenges, such as flooding, drought, and extreme weather events, as well as manmade hazards. You will lead and drive asset management and protection strategies aligned with resilience and sustainability goals, ensuring that critical infrastructure, such as water utilities and hospitals, and essential private assets are protected and prepared for future climate impacts. Depending on the specific requirements of each client, you may be involved in conducting high-level portfolio analyses, developing roadmaps to mitigate risk, and/or recommending site-specific actions to mitigate risk. The overarching goal is to deliver tailored strategies and solutions that safeguard our clients' assets and promote the resilience of their enterprises.  

As the National Practice Leader, you will collaborate with the Practice Director and other leaders to create innovative strategies and value propositions for growth and market positioning nationwide. You will obtain an understanding of clients' asset and enterprise risk and resilience-related needs – including but not limited to climate risk – as well as apply industry-leading tools and methodologies, including J100, to assess climate risk.  In the role, you will examine emerging issues and market trends, evaluate competitors, mentor others, and provide operational and technical support to team leads and practitioners.

Role Accountabilities:

As National Practice Leader, you will work with cross-functional teams to develop successful proposals, incorporating technical solutions, pricing, and delivery strategies for asset and enterprise risk and resilience-related projects. You will also partner with other Practice Leaders and technical experts to establish and execute standards for asset and enterprise risk and resilience and ensure effective coordination of asset and enterprise risk and resilience-related practitioners. Additional responsibilities include:  

Establishing Standards and Delivering Excellence: Partner with Practice Leaders and technical experts to define and execute standards, quality control, and processes for consistent project delivery in asset and enterprise risk and resilience. Leadership and Thought Development: Serve as Pursuit Lead on strategic pursuits, develop and implement thought leadership strategies, and act as a trusted advisor to clients, fostering strong relationships and high-quality service. Industry Engagement and Knowledge Sharing: Represent the organization at national conferences, collaborate with industry professionals, and contribute to advancing best practices and insights. Team Support and Development: Mentor junior and mid-level staff, support hiring strategies and recruitment, balance workloads, and ensure operational practices enable staff growth and project success. Strategic Collaboration and Client Engagement: Identify growth opportunities, coordinate with team and discipline leads, and travel as needed for client meetings and project activities.

Key Skills and Attributes: 

To excel in this role, you must have comprehensive expertise in asset and enterprise risk and resilience, including areas such as asset and portfolio-based climate risk assessments, J100 solutions, hazard mitigation operations, emergency response strategies, and climate-informed asset management. Proficiency in the tools, techniques, and methodologies required to deliver successful outcomes is essential. Strong communication skills are crucial, with the ability to provide clear perspectives and thought leadership to clients on risk and resilience practices. You should be skilled in conveying the strategic value of these services to client executives and stakeholders while implementing innovative initiatives that drive client success. Additionally, success in this role requires exceptional leadership and the ability to motivate and influence teams, fostering collaboration and achieving shared goals.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Planning, Earth Sciences, or a related field   5 years of experience leading asset and climate risk and resilience-related projects  10 years of consulting delivery experience with an environmental engineering or management consulting firm or equivalent experience with a large municipality, agency, or business.   

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Planning, Engineering, Earth Sciences, M.B.A., M.P.A, Economics, or related field   Certified Planning, Professional Engineering Certification, PMP, or other certification

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
