Multi Asset Solutions (MAS) is a multi-asset class investing group that sits within Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) at Goldman Sachs. It designs and develops comprehensive investment management solutions customized to meet the investment objectives for clients.  These solutions bring together state-of-the-art techniques for multi-asset portfolio design and implementation and reflect proprietary research and analytics conducted by the MAS team. With investment professionals across the globe, MAS invests or advises on assets for some of the world’s leading corporations, sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, governments, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, family offices, RIAs and other wealth advisors.

YOUR IMPACT

We are seeking a Vice President to serve as a Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) to support the Goldman Sachs US Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) retail models business. This is a role that is client facing and combines expertise in investments, the retail asset management industry, and business commerciality in a high-growth, high-visibility area of the firm. As a CPM, this individual will be responsible for working with Wealth CIOs (particularly RIAs) on custom model design and new business development.  The models CPM is expected to become an essential partner to our RIA clients on custom models as well as representing our entire flagship models business publicly. The individual will drive the development of investment content, portfolio thought leadership, and portfolio related investment commentary to promote our models within the Financial Advisor ecosystem as well as support the models specialist sales team in the field. 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

 Investment Content and Thought Leadership 

Represent the MAS PM team as a models expert by delivering portfolio construction expertise, education, and market insights through the presentation of GS Multi-Asset Solution Models content in client meetings and other events Collaborate with portfolio managers, internal research teams, and sales and marketing to create thought leadership and determine and execute best vehicle for delivery (webinar, blog posts, white papers, etc.) Develop multi-asset portfolio content strategy geared toward the Financial Advisors community and work on commercial narratives for the models specialist sales teamWork closely with the MAS CIOs and research team to create timely market driven content around major market or macroeconomic events (Desknotes, CIO Notes)Keep abreast of industry research and communicate findings to proactively stay ahead of major trends in the model’s industryWork cross-divisionally with sales, research, and other investment centers to drive forward major models initiatives across investments, marketing, sales, and technology

Portfolio Design 

Provide deep expertise on our approach to portfolio construction, asset allocation, and product selection across asset classes and product wrappers (ETF, MF, SMAs, alts)Develop client relationships and win new custom model mandates through consultative engagement with the goal of understanding client investment needs and proposing appropriate portfolio solutionsShare our views on macro and markets and becoming an essential partner and key input to the RIAs investment teamsWork with distribution channels, senior MAS portfolio managers, and portfolio consultants to drive business opportunities from pitching our capabilities to coordinating model delivery and content strategyServe as a GS Models expert by delivering Portfolio Construction expertise, education, and market insights through the presentation of GS Multi Asset Solution Models content in client meetings and other events 

Client Engagement 

Drive commercial outcomes through client engagement, including client calls/meetings and creating and delivering client proposals (i.e. for custom models) Serve as product expert and point-of-contact on GSAM custom models to clients and when working with our sales partners in the fieldWork closely with GSAM research teams, portfolio managers, and the models specialist sales team to prepare model portfolio marketing materials (trade alerts, quarterly commentaries, CIO notes, market driven content)Work with investment teams to identify new product development opportunities in the context of rapidly evolving industry trends Conduct competitive analyses, peer group analyses and overall market research and keep senior leadership apprised of notable developments

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or equivalent), CFA or MBA strongly preferred, 10-20 years of relevant experienceIntermediary / Retail Asset Management / Models experience a mustExperience crafting model portfolio marketing narratives for a retail FA audience strongly preferredSeries 7 and Series 63 licenses are required (and will be sponsored by the firm if not already completed)Investment credibility through previous product or portfolio management experience in at least one asset classKnowledge and appreciation for processes around operational nuances as well as portfolio management metricsExperience of pitching to and advising clients, preference for experience with RIA C-SuiteExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, especially the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms Strong work ethic and a commercial perspectiveStrong technical skills including high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and familiarity with industry data through such sources as Morningstar Direct, Cerulli, PSN, Bloomberg, and FactSet.

 

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$290000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
