About KOLO:
KOLO 8 News Now is the ABC, CW, and Telemundo affiliate television station serving the Reno/Sparks area, Northern Nevada, and parts of eastern California. Job Summary/Description:
The assignment editor is responsible for keeping track of reporter stories, along with other local spot and breaking news happening in northern Nevada. This person will typically follow up on stories for newscasts and web related content when further information is needed. The assignment editor is also tasked with finding story ideas and helping organize daily editorial meetings. This role also includes digital content duties that requires writing and posting news articles to kolotv.com and KOLO's social media channels.
Duties - (include but not limited to):
Daily duties include organizing the planning calendar and story ideas/assignments, making phone calls and sending emails for follow-up information, coordinating breaking news coverage, tracking and organizing incoming story ideas, fielding calls to the newsroom, and writing stories for newscasts and the website.
Qualifications/Requirements:
A degree or background in broadcast journalism, or a related field, is preferred. Newsroom experience is a plus. Strong writing and organizational skills are required.
