Job Summary/Description:
First Alert 7 - the top-rated, long-time news leader in Odessa-Midland, TX - is looking for an Assignments Manager to join our news team. Producing a 30-minute newscast daily is part of the job opportunity, as well as managing reporters and stories throughout the day. This is a mid-level management position for someone looking to grow management skills. This position pays $18.00/hr.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Select and report daily on stories happening around West Texas.
- Produce a 30-minute newscast with a combination of local, state, and national news.
- Assign stories to reporters/photogs and select which shows they go in.
- Make/answer calls about stories and breaking news.
- Write for Broadcast and Web
- Edit video for reporter packages and newscasts.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Degree in Journalism or related field.
- Knowledge of AP style.
- Experience with newsroom environments.
- Quick thinking/takes initiative, capable of breaking news situations.
- Some management experience.
