Knowledge of pathology and laboratory medicine practices in a variety of clinical, teaching and research environments. Demonstrated interest and ability in scholarly activity evidenced by peer review publications and investigative experience. Required License/Registration/Certification Ph.D., M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree. American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC) certification/eligibility in Clinical Chemistry or American Board of Pathology (ABP) Certification in Clinical Pathology preferably with subspecialization in Clinical Chemistry. Licensed in Kentucky as required for provider. Job Summary The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is currently seeking an experienced clinical chemist to assume directorship of a ComACC-accredited Clinical Chemistry post-doctoral Fellowship in addition to other leadership roles. Significant experience in high complexity clinical lab/director functions in support of an academic medical center clinical services and translational programs is preferred. Interested candidates must have a PhD or MD/DO and be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry or the American Board of Pathology. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate would join an academic hospital-based practice and engage in active laboratory management, teaching, and collaborative research programs. This open rank position is available immediately and will remain open until the appropriate individual is recruited.Responsibilities will include clinical service (oversight of one or more of the clinical chemistry laboratories), teaching (primarily pathology residents and clinical chemistry fellows), and collaborative and/or independent research activities.The Clinical Chemistry team at the University of Kentucky Medical Center is part of an integrated department of pathology https://medicine.uky.edu/departments/pathology/ with successful programs in anatomic and clinical pathology, a vibrant educational program for medical students, residents and fellows, including a COMACC accredited clinical chemistry fellowship and research affiliations with the Markey Cancer Center.
