Regions Hospital is hiring compassionate, collaborative, and committed patient care assistants who are driven to provide excellent care to our patients! When you start your career as a Patient Care Assistant you will receive 2-3 weeks of training with our nursing education to learn more about our electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills and restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills. Being a part of the nursing team at Regions means you will use your technical and people skills to positively impact the type of care our patients receive and overall experience.
As a patient care assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the patient with activities of daily living (ADLs), providing patient care treatments which include but are not limited to, discontinuing IVs, restraint monitoring, and collecting patient vitals, weights, and intake & output all in a safe, timely, and effective matter. This position regularly collects specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose at the direction of the nurse. The patient care assistant responds to patient call lights and requests, communicates with patients and visitors, and assist the nurses with procedures as requested. This position also documents and charts in our electronic health system.
Work Schedule/FTE: We are currently looking to hire for various in-patient units ranging from 24 to 32 hours week and varying shifts. The shifts at Regions Hospital are:
Days: 7am-3:30pm
Evenings: 3pm-11:30pm
Nights: 11pm-7:30am
Some shifts are combinations of days and evenings or evenings and nights.
This position requires you work every other weekend and holiday.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program required – certification preferred (must have occurred within the last 5 years)Or
Experience in an acute care setting as a nursing assistant (minimum 6 months of experience at a .5 FTE and has occurred within the last 5 years)Or
Completion of one clinical rotation in a RN or LPN program within the past 12 monthsOr
Experience as an Emergency room Technician (minimum of 6 months at a .5 FTE and has occurred within last 5 years)And
A current Basic Life Support CPR certification from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.Preferred Qualifications:
High school degree of equivalent Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting Nursing assistant certification Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC) Excellent written and verbal communication skillsBenefits:
