Assistant Accountant
ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

Sandvik Mining and Construction DRC is a Sales Unit based in Lubumbashi, within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a Business Area, a leading supplier of equipment and tools, service and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and knowledge in a wide range of applications such as rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling and quarrying.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support in Sandvik OneStream reporting: Assist in compiling data for balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

General Ledger reconciliations- Monthly reconciliations of all Balance Sheet Accounts.

Statutory Accounting Support - Assist in the preparation and maintenance of statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with OHADA and IFRS standards.

Fixed Asset Management – Oversee the management of fixed assets purchasing process capitalisation and the annual fixed asset count.

Treasury Function: Review the treasury function and supervise the intercompany accounts and reporting.

Tax Function – Assist in the preparation of all Tax returns and ensure compliance with the law.

Audit – Assist in the preparation of internal and external audits.

Financial Analysis Contribution: Analyze financial data to provide insights into business performance, supporting the Financial Accountant in decision-making

Management Reports – Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports.

Compliance with internal controls as per the Sandvik global internal controls matrix. Ensuring proper documentation and signoffs as per LoA. (Limits of Authority)

Your profile 

We are looking for a person with a comprehensive background in a similar role within finance.

Key Qualifications

Degree in Accounting or relevant qualification.

Demonstration of business and financial accounting knowledge.

03 years experience in financial reporting environment.

Experience in taxes, and transactional finance (Accounts Payables, Cash Book and Accounts Receivables).

Valid Driving License.

Proven competence in Microsoft applications - advanced in Excel.

Deadline-driven with the ability to work under pressure.

Effective communicator.

Competencies

Knowledge of the company’s and customers' business procedures.

Ability to effectively perform multiple tasks.

Skill in managing relationships with financial institutions, the Central Bank.

Ability to do financial analysis to support decision-making.

Validation of payments for financial and process compliance.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
