The UCLA Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry (www.chemistry.ucla.edu) is seeking outstanding candidates for Assistant Adjunct Professor positions. Three Assistant Adjunct Professor positions are open in the Boyer/Cram/Libby Teacher-Scholar program. They honor UCLA Nobel Laureates Paul D. Boyer, Donald J. Cram, and Willard F. Libby, and recognize their many contributions to the advancement of chemistry and biochemistry. The Assistant Adjunct Professors are expected to serve for three-years, with the initial appointment as Assistant Adjunct Professor being for one year and subject to renewal for the second and third years. Responsibilities include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, writing and grading exams and problem sets, supervising teaching assistants, and conducting cutting-edge research with a sponsoring faculty mentor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Qualified candidates should be recent Ph.D. recipients (Ph.D. earned 2022-2025) in chemistry or biochemistry and have demonstrated excellence in their previous research and teaching positions. We welcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research, and community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.

All applications must be uploaded through UCLA Academic Recruit.

Candidates should provide a cover letter, which includes the names of three UCLA Chemistry & Biochemistry faculty members whose research is of interest to them; a curriculum vitae; a summary of research accomplishments; and a statement of teaching philosophy. In addition, candidates must arrange for three letters of recommendation to be uploaded to UCLA Academic Recruit.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry will begin reviewing materials on the submission deadline, 11/01/2024.

The University of California, Los Angeles and the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry are interested in candidates who are committed to the highest standards of scholarship and professional activities, and to the development of a campus climate that supports equality and diversity.
