We seek applicants who are dedicated to servingThe University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’sstudent body as an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year in the broad areas of materials and advanced manufacturing. Successful candidates will contribute to the following research centers in the College of Engineering & Computer Science: The Center for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Cyber Systems ( CAMICS ) and/or the Center for Nanotechnology. The college hosts an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in materials science and engineering, and a Ph.D. program in computer science with interdisciplinary applications. UTRGV faculty are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success, contribute to the advancement of the university, college, and program missions, and promote access to postsecondary education for a diverse student body at UTRGV , a leading Hispanic-Serving Institution and emerging research university.

College Background:
The College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) hosts an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in materials science and engineering, and a Ph.D. program in computer science with interdisciplinary applications. The research centers in the college include the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Cyber Systems ( CAMICS ), the Center for Nanotechnology, the Center for Aerospace Research, Industrial Assessment Center, the NSF Center for Multidisciplinary Research Excellence in Cyber-Physical Infrastructure Systems ( MECIS ), and the University Transportation Center for Railway Safety ( UTCRS ). Department Background:
The Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering ( MAIE ) department at UTRGV offers an ABET accredited bachelor’s degree of Manufacturing Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management. The department supports the Ph.D. programs in Materials Science and Engineering, and the Ph.D. in Computer Science with Interdisciplinary Applications. Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or a related field from an accredited university (at least conferred before the start date of September 1, 2025).
Candidates at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level will be considered based on demonstrated potential to enhance the teaching and research capabilities of the Ph.D. Program of Material Science and Engineering and potential to contribute to the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Cyber Systems ( CAMICS ) and/or the Center for Nanotechnology.
Assistant Professor applicants must have demonstrated evidence of leadership, skill in interdisciplinary research and collaboration along with the potential to develop (or already developed) an outstanding research program and high-profile publications as well as a successful record of extramural funding.
Additional qualifications Associate Professor rank:
a) must currently hold the rank of Associate Professor or be eligible for promotion to Associate Professor at their current institution,
b) evidence of research and scholarly accomplishments in materials science/advanced manufacturing or a closely related field, and
c) demonstrated success in securing funding, mentoring graduate students, and engaging in service.
Additional qualifications Full Professor rank:
a) currently hold the rank of Professor or six or more years of experience at the rank of Associate Professor or an equivalent role, and
b) distinguished record of research achievements and academic leadership in materials science/advanced manufacturing or related fields.
Note: Full Professors will be expected to mentor junior faculty. They will also be eligible to serve as the Ph.D. Program Director and to be considered for Endowed Professorships.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Applicants must also have a demonstrated ability (or a well-designed plan) to develop and maintain a funded research program and to lead multidisciplinary collaborative projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate having (or potential to) achieved excellence and balance in teaching, research and service, collaboration with faculty across disciplines and the ability to involve undergraduate students as well as graduate students in research activities.
Preferred Qualifications
The highest consideration will be given to applicants who have expertise in the Materials and Advanced Manufacturing areas.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
