Collaborates with faculty in other departments to integrate physiology throughout the undergraduate medical education curriculum. Provides for instruction using various methods of content delivery, including lecture, large and small group discussions, case studies, TBL, and other interactive approaches. Participates in the writing of exam questions based on COMLEX-USA and USMLE styles. Maintains scholarly activities, including application for research grants, dissemination of research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and conference attendance. Acts as a faculty advisor to students and participate in selection of students. Participates in administrative duties (committees). Performs other duties as assigned by the chair of the department. Educational Requirements for the Position A PhD, DO, MD or equivalent terminal degree in a related field from an accredited university is required. Experience Required for the Position At least 2 years teaching experience in an academic institution at the graduate, medical or osteopathic medical school level. Teaching experience to medical or osteopathic medical students is preferred. Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially within various faculty (basic sciences and clinical) is required. Candidate should present a plan for scholarly activity, including publications and presentations commensurate with rank. Other Requirements for the Position Experience using different teaching methods, which includes traditional lecture, case-based learning, interactive large group presentation, audience response systems. Experience with the curriculum delivery systems (Blackboard) and Exam Soft is highly preferred.
