Assistant Athletic Director or Director of Academic Success

Under supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success/SWA, the Assistant Athletic Director or Director of Academic Success is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive academic support programs and services for Belmont’s NCAA Division 1 student-athletes.

Student-athletes, developing and implementing policies and procedures relative to academic support and providing guidance and supervision to staff. Provides academic advising and support to assigned teams.Monitors the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University eligibility requirements and to achieve graduation goals. Develop and review degree plans and work closely with college academic advisors to monitor degree progress. Prepares unofficial admissibility and eligibility assessments of prospective student-athlete records, including transfers; works cooperatively with university departments to obtain course evaluations for domestic and international students.  Meet with prospective student-athletes and their families during campus visits, as requested by the coaching staffs. Compiles data relative to student-athlete success for purposes of internal and external reporting, eligibility reviews and certification, as well as the promotion of Belmont’s student-athletes on a local, regional, and national level. Welcomes new student-athletes during Summer Orientation, communicating with each of them prior to orientation and assisting with academic advising and their transition to Belmont.Evaluates the effectiveness of academic support services and student-athlete programming through measures such as eligibility, retention, and timely graduation, as well as student-athlete assessments.The above statements describe the job's essential responsibilities and requirements.  They are not an exhaustive list of the duties that may be assigned to job incumbents.
