4 Year Degree Primary Responsibilities:

Implement a health care delivery system that provides injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for student-athletes. This requires the athletic trainer to be available before, during and after all practices and competitions, at home and away, for their assigned sport(s). This also includes the requirement for the athletic trainer to communicate with the head coach(es) and strength & conditioning staff about the status of injured student-athletes so the coach can effectively strategize practice and competition plans. Perform administrative responsibilities that include, but are not limited to: pre-participation physical examinations, required laboratory & diagnostic tests, inputting information into student-athletes health record, insurance claims/tracking/correspondence, travel-related receipt submission & reimbursement. Collaborate with a network of physicians, hospitals, physical therapist and specialists that will provide the most reasonable health care for student-athletes who become injured or ill as a result of participation in intercollegiate athletics. Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with purchasing supplies & equipment, administering the drug testing program and providing education to coaches & student-athletes. Athletic trainer is required to maintain continuing education credits and when applicable, attend professional development opportunities. Other reasonable duties as assigned Functional and Supervisory Relationship:

Reports to: Assistant Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer Supervises the following positions: Student assistants

Knowledge of all student-athlete safety and welfare items, especially concussion management, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, mental health and nutrition. Knowledge of NCAA and conference affiliate policies and procedures.  Knowledge of health care system and HIPPA regulations. Ability to work varying schedules (evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.). Ability to travel. Ability to work under pressure and make sound medical decisions. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team setting. Ability to prioritize tasks.
