Position Summary
Under the supervision of the above, the Assistant BIS will support in educating team members on behavior support plans, assisting with assessments, ensuring data collection is recorded appropriately, and providing direct feedback and education to all team members.
Responsibilities
Conduct at least weekly reviews of data collected in Precision Care. Complete behavior tally dashboard monthly. Assist the BIS in developing intervention strategies for individuals in accordance with OPWDD regulations the agency’s vision of positive behavioral supports and teaching alternative appropriate behaviors, which foster maximal behavioral independence. Train and monitor Direct Support Professionals in consistently implementing these behavior support plans and intervention strategies and the appropriate collection of data. Provide crisis intervention as necessary. Use positive approaches when handling difficult situations. Conduct and document regular staff observations. Attend clinical meetings as necessary and participate in Life Plan Meetings when requested. In conjunction with the BIS, prepare and conduct trainings/in-services for individual and facility related issues, behavior interventions, etc. Assist the program BIS in collecting information required for reports and assist in report writing as directed. Conduct and document regular Direct Support Staff observations. Complete all required work on a timely basis. Provide weekly status updates on each program to BIS and department administrators. Maintain certification in CPR and SCIP. Follow all agency, state and federal regulations to maintain program compliance. Ensure that individuals are clean and safe at all times. Ensure that no individual is inappropriately left alone or unsupervised at any time. Maintain confidentiality of individuals at all times. Report all incidents, including allegations of abuse and neglect and serious reportable incidents, to program management immediately upon discovery. Assist in ensuring overall residence orderliness and cleanliness by reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to program management. Be flexible and adapt to change. Advocate appropriately and professionally on behalf of individuals. Serve as a role model for individuals and staff. Abide by agency dress code. Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times. Avoid gossip and negative discussions. Remain sensitive and responsive to cultural differences of individuals and program staff. Participate in in-service trainings and on-site workshops, as required, for professional growth and development. Attend external trainings, workshops and/or IDT meetings at direction of direct supervisor or member of administration. Represent HeartShare; both within and outside the organization, in a manner that promotes the values, goals and mission of the agency. Personally adhere to HeartShare’s Standards & Values Statement, in addition to all other agency policies and procedures.Undertake any additional tasks and initiatives as assigned by direct supervisor or member of administration.
