Assistant Surveyor - Building Consultancy – London City
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Building Surveyor to join our Building Consultancy team in our London City office which is based in the Walbrook Building.
The team deals with a range of Investor clients from large corporates including AXA, Royal London Asset Management, St Martins Property Investments to landlords with a handful of assets and an array of other businesses. We work on some of the best trophy assets in Central London as well as listed buildings
The successful candidate will join an established and experienced team and be working alongside other internal departments such as Investment and Commercial Agency, Property Asset Management, Lease Advisory, Rating and Planning to be part of a team which can provide holistic, commercial advice to our clients.

We are looking for an outward-looking Building Surveyor who wants to be an ‘all-rounder’ and contribute to the ‘team spirit’ and possess an ambition to deliver excellence.
What this job involves
The workload will vary but generally includes a good mix of professional and project work. You will be helping to run CAT A and B office fit out projects and general refurbishment and repair works packages. You will be helping to prepare dilapidations assessments and claims and assist with technical due diligence instructions to deliver industry leading considered advice to investor clients whether they are buying or selling property.
This includes:
Acting as an Assistant Project Manager, Contract Administrator and Employer’s Agent on fit-out and refurbishment contracts
Helping to coordinate third party project team members such as architects, M&E and Structural Engineers, Cost Consultants, and Sustainability Consultants
Assisting with the lead director to help provide External Development Project Management services covering multiple schemes being delivered across the UK by other leading consultancies
Preparing and negotiating Schedules of Dilapidations on behalf of landlords and tenants and where necessary preparing end of lease/exit strategies
Undertaking property inspections and preparing reports
Assisting with co-ordination of portfolio instructions and undertaking other duties from time to time as may be reasonably required
Making sustainable business links with both external and internal clients and offering a professional and excellent service to both internal and external clients at all times
Most of your work will be within walking distance of the office but from time to time there may be some travel when national instructions need the team’s input

The ability to work within a team and on own initiative
Enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated
Strong verbal and numerical and analytical skills, and be comfortable with report writing
Excellent time management and general organisational skills
Be flexible and have the ability to work under pressure
Well-presented and have excellent communication skills
Hold an HND or Degree in Building Surveying and be at the beginning or working towards completion of the APC process and looking to being chartered (MRICS building surveying) with proven experience, preferably in a commercial consultancy but those from other sectors will also be considered
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
The ability to use AutoCAD would be an advantage but not essential
