Assistant Business Office Manager
Position Summary The Assistant Business Office Manager assists the Business Office Manager in the overall administrative, billing, accounting, and payroll functions of the business office in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. Reports to Business Office Manager (BOM) Education, Experience, and Licensure/Certifications High school graduate or equivalent. Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. One (1) year in post-acute care or other geriatric-related field preferredExperience in Medicare and Insurance Billing required Specific Requirements Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail Ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the business office Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action Knowledgeable of administration practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing administration functions in the post-acute care facility Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the administration department Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: general business office responsibilities, cash receipts and billing, patient rights, and safety and sanitation Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training Promotes a culture of integrity, maintains an “open door” policy, and does not participate in or allow retaliation against those who report good faith concerns Actively implements the compliance program and Code of Conduct and ensures 100% participation by department staff Essential Functions Assist with effective management and oversight of bookkeeping functions including: posting payments and charges to patient ledgers, balance daily receipts, collect delinquent accounts, and evaluate need for and refer delinquent accounts to collection agencies Maintain facility checkbook and reconcile checkbook regularly Responsible for patient accounts Assume the duties of the BOM in his/her absence Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients Assist in the evacuation of patients Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment Communicate and function productively in an interdisciplinary team Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours Read, write, speak, and understand the English language Lift 20 lbs floor to waist, lift 20 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry 20 lbs, and push/pull 20 lbs
