Job title: Assistant Buyer
Job Type: Contract
Start date: Subject to clearance
Duration: 18 months
Salary: Competitive
Location: Reading - Up to 3 days per week on site - depending on needs of the business
Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Position Overview:
The Assistant Buyer will oversee the purchasing process, ensuring timely order placement, efficient supplier management, and resolution of any invoice or delivery issues to meet business requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day purchasing tasks, ensuring orders are placed on time and issues are addressed promptly.
- Support supplier relationships to ensure on-time delivery and smooth resolution of invoice discrepancies.
- Assist in gathering and verifying Service Centre reports, ensuring accuracy and timely updates in Fusion systems.
- Maintain effective coordination with internal stakeholders to ensure proper order placement and adherence to supply chain processes.
- Promote a high standard of health, safety, security, quality, and sustainability in line with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure accurate order placement and timely deliveries.
- Ensure all supply chain processes and systems are understood and adhered to across the team.
- Work with approved suppliers, ensuring compliance and resolving any issues in a timely manner.
- Support continuous improvement and the adoption of best practices within Supply Chain Management.
- Drive professional development and take ownership of career growth opportunities.

Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in sourcing to contract and working with Public Procurement Regulations (PCR 2015, PA 2023).
- Solid understanding of end-to-end public procurement and tendering processes, including evaluation.
- Familiarity with system implementations in finance and previous experience in a procurement/purchasing role.
- Proficiency in JAGGAER or similar systems like Ariba; ability to navigate these systems effectively.
- Strong communication skills and experience managing 5-10 procurement events.
- Ability to work independently, ensuring all tasks meet deadlines and stakeholder expectations.
