We are currently hiring a Storekeeper to join the team at our mechanical evaporation facility in Unity, Saskatchewan.

Located in the western part of Saskatchewan, Compass Minerals’ Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant is one of the company’s four mechanical evaporation plants. The plant produces and packages a wide variety of salt products including water conditioning salt, bulk salt, food-grade salt and salt for agriculture. The Unity Evaporation Plant is located in a friendly community of 2,500 that loves hockey and curling, situated in the beautiful big-sky prairies, an hour from North Battleford and a 2-hour drive from Saskatoon. Overview: Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, the Assistant Buyer and Stores position oversees the safe and efficient procurement of goods and materials for the Unity and Wynyard Facilities. This position is responsible for procuring and managing inventory, distributing parts, overseeing the flow of materials from the receiving dock to work orders, communicating with vendors and end-users about materials status, and facilitating the preparation of kits while coordinating with team members for team decisions.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Ensure compliance with corporate supply contracts on Maintenance Repairs Operations (MRO) purchasing, including loading contract pricing into the system to permit automated release of contracted inventory items. Ensure timely resolution of employee issues, returns, and parts searches in the Storeroom and MRO Storage area.Analyze inventory levels on stock items and purchase replacement items as required and per established purchasing standards, best practices and production requirements; adjust reorder levels to reflect current usage and effective inventory management. Setup new item numbers as required. Manage obsolete items as required.Responsible for an allocated portion of 10.6m annual direct materials and MRO spend for both Unity and Wynyard.Responsible for ensuring 2.6m addressable MRO inventory targets are maintained for both Unity and Wynyard contributing to facilities inventory reduction goals.Responsible for properly stocking shelves of all material as directed by E1. Ad-Hoc cycle counts while stocking shelves of all direct and indirect materials. Receive parts and services, efficiently and accurately in a computerized environment; paying particular attention to all material that may have safety and food safety requirements.Assist Purchasing Supervisor in contract preparation and/or review.Assist Purchasing Supervisor on the reconciliation of Accounts Payable any invoice, ensuring costs in the system are accurate, and report on any discrepancies.Responsible for all maintenance, organization, and cleaning in both storeroom and MRO storage areas.Coordinates with vendors and Purchasing Supervisor to ensure repair material for outbound shipment.Collaborate with Maintenance for the expediting of emergency materials.Responsible for meeting all safety and food safety requirements.Ensure site policies, procedures, and government regulations are adhered to, including Workers Compensation Board (WCB), liability insurance and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).Participate in the supervisory on-call rotation for weekend and statutory holiday coverage.Perform other related duties as required.
