Job Overview:

The Assistant Category Director will be responsible for delivering sales, profit dollars, margin rate, and other P&L objectives for a defined product segment across all channels of Leslie’s business, including brick & mortar stores, proprietary eCommerce, and online marketplaces. This role reports into one of Leslie’s Category Directors within the Merchandising department and plays a critical role in shaping marketing and promotional strategies, establishing and maintaining vendor relationships, assortment planning, and product lifecycle management.  The Assistant Category Director will closely follow retail trends and consumer behavior through collaborative communication with internal and external stakeholders and self-service data analytics.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Category Director on overall category role and strategy. Monitor product performance and recommend adjustments to align with business goals. Analyze internal and external market trends to identify opportunities and risks. Leverage customer metrics to inform product development and promotional strategies. Independently manage a designated segment of the business, ensuring alignment with overall category objectives. Develop and execute plans to drive sales and profitability within the assigned segment. Assist in planning and executing promotional activities to enhance product visibility and performance. Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to align promotions with broader business strategies. Partner with cross-functional teams, including marketing, supply chain, and merchandising, to execute category plans and ensure a seamless customer experience Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure product supply chain stability. Track and report on the performance of products and promotions, providing actionable insights to the Category Director. Adjust strategies as needed to meet sales, margin, and inventory goals. Maintain brand integrity Be involved in but not limited to: Assortment planning, vendor negotiations, vendor onboarding, new item launches

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience in category management, product / brand management, or merchandising. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret customer and market data. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proven ability with time management and prioritization. Positive attitude Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Passion for customer service
