Overview Outstanding opportunity exists for a professional, skilled, and experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to help oversee all aspects of engineering and maintenance at Willows Lodge. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to lead, direct and motivate staff. SUMMARY Our Engineers are responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property with regards to all aspects of basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, drywall, and painting work. The Asst. Chief Engineer possesses strong mechanical aptitude and building management skills and can manage medium to large sized projects from start to finish. They complete maintenance request work orders from all departments on a timely basis and participate in the preventive maintenance program for all building equipment and rooms. The Asst. Chief Engineer can complete assignments in a responsible manner with minimal to no direction required. The Asst. Chief Engineer is an integral part of the Engineering training program and provides coaching and training to engineering staff. RESPONSIBLIITES Respond to guest maintenance requests/questions and resolve their needs efficiently. Troubleshoot and repair equipment using proper tools in a skilled craftsman-like manner. Perform assignments as directed by the Chief Engineer. Assuming the duties of other engineers when required, including light carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, HVAC, painting, etc. Maintain all buildings and work performed in accordance with all governing bodies and codes. Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop, boiler room, and storage areas. While on shift, respond as part of an initial response team to any early warning or major fire alarm. Lead team efforts in preventative maintenance on all equipment. Assist with work order system and the Engineering List. Assist with company safety programs and represent when needed. Assist in the development and monitoring of budget analysis and capital plans. Assist with scheduling and managing the preventative maintenance program. Assist in developing and monitoring engineering supplies, parts, inventories and administering the purchase order system. Assist with hiring and supervising outside contractors. Assist with interviewing and selection of new staff members. Assist with creation, implementation, and management of departmental training programs for engineering staff members. Assist with scheduling, supervision, and providing performance feedback for engineering staff members. Assist with management, direction, and leading activities of engineering staff members. Assist in establishing specific goals and standards of performance management principles and practices to fully maximize productivity of engineering staff members. Assist to coach, counsel, and discipline all engineering staff members. Assist to reward, recognize, and motivate engineering staff members. Assist in completion of bi-weekly payroll process for Engineering. Assist in ensuring that all engineering staff members receive appropriate rest periods and meal periods. Assist with managing staff relations concerns and issues of the engineering department to increase employee satisfaction. Attend and participate in leadership meetings and stand ups in the absence of the Chief Engineer. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Wage range: $42.50 - $48.50/Hour Cell phone allowance: $40/month Eligible for medical insurance, dental insurance, long term disability, vision insurance, and life insurance under our existing group plans Eligible for 401(k) retirement plan with employer match following 1 year of service under our existing plan 11 days of PTO accrued in the first year based on an employee working 40 hours each week Complimentary meal in employee lounge during shift Free parking Qualifications Minimum education reqirement of a high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years job-related experience in a luxury hotel environment. Solid experience and familiarity in building maintenance, mechanical systems, building automation, HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, refrigeration and carpentry skills. Strong computer/technical skills and ability. Ability to lead others in a respectful way and demonstrate integrity. Ability to model professional behavior with colleagues and guests. Ability to accomplish projects in a timely manner, exercising good judgement. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Ability to know when to stop and escalate. Ability to leverage the internet to find solutions when necessary. Ability to work a full shift standing and going back and forth to different areas of the hotel. Ability for transporting material or equipment, or lifting, moving, or carrying heavy (over 100 pounds) materials for intermittent periods throughout the day. Ability to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Schedule varies according to business demands and needs. Ability to read and understand blueprints, plumbing and wiring schematics preferred. Pool Operator Certification preferred. Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred. Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $42.50/Hr. - $48.50/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
